The Secret to getting results while still having treats...
Is it possible to get results without counting calories?
Of course! But in reality, unless you are going to be the perfect dieter then it’s unlikely! In truth, as long as you monitor your consumption in some way then you are likely to get some results. But if you want to put a timescale on it for a deadline such as a wedding or getting ready for a holiday then you need to be a little stricter.
So how is it done? Simply by eating only single ingredient foods, by that I mean foods that haven’t been processed. Fresh veg, fruits, lean meat… you get the jist. By sticking to these natural foods, the chances of you going over your maintenance calories is pretty slim due to the sheer volume of food that these make up for very few calories. The instant you process ingredients they become calorie dense. 200 calories of carrots will be a vast amount of carrots, the same amount of calories in chocolate / bread / burgers / pizza etc will be pretty disappointing and not very filling at all!
So what happens if want to have some treats? Perfectly normal question to ask, we all like treats right?!! Well that’s actually really simple - unless you are already able to maintain your weight / bodyfat % by eating these treats within your diet then you are likely going wrong somewhere. OK so it's not really a secret, but there is a cheeky little way of doing this but it needs discipline. We still need to monitor intake. Contrary to what others out there will tell you, when you strip it down, it all very basic. Calories In < Calories Out. But if you stick to the 80/20 rule then this becomes a little easier. Eat single ingredient foods 80% of the time and allow yourself to relax a little for the remaining 20%. Now that doesn't mean you can binge or fall of the wagon in that 20%, it simply means you can add in a few little extras, a few slightly processed foods. Note a said "slightly"!
If you want to really change your body shape and vastly improve your health and then that’s where training comes in. There are ways to speed up the process of course with different training methods and in my next blog I’ll be showing you the first of a series of awesome results that my clients past and present have been experiencing.
Set yourself a realistic goal, commit to your goal, work hard, enjoy the journey and reap the rewards.
That’s all for now, catch you next time!
