Worried about what's in your children's treats?

"Pure Fruit with No Added Nonsense"

Seems legit, ingredients list on the reverse backs it up. So what's wrong here?

They haven't done anything illegal, they haven't failed to comply with the standards set.

It's just a 100% fruit bar that's "1 of your 5 a day" right?

WRONG!

"We bake 380g of apples, 205g of pears & 65g of strawberries per 100g"

That's 38g of apples, 20.5g of pears & 6.5g of strawberries in this 10g bar!

But it's still fruit right?

WRONG!

Fruit contains a lot of fibre and this contains virtually zero! Meaning all they have done is taken a lot of whole, "nutrient dense" fruit, squeezed the hell out of it to extract all the flavour and juice, leaving all the fibre behind to create a "calorie dense" bar that wouldn't fill anyone for long!

So what's left?

"Sugars naturally found in the fruit"

Well they're not wrong, but all they are leaving you with is pretty much sugar!

Natural sugar or refined sugar - the body still deals with it the exact same way.

Don't be sucked in to cleaver marketing!
