Summer may seem like it's been and gone with this weather suddenly turning but the summer holidays are still to come! Here are my top 5 tips for keeping on track while on holiday...
1) Get Walking - don't just lounge on the sunbed all day, get out and see the sights. Walking at even a leisurely pace for an hour can burn around 200 calories. If you make a day of it, that’s a potential 1000 calories just from being a tourist!
2) Alternate Alcohol with Water - Alternating your drinks with a glass of water will not only help keep you hydrated but will cut your calories in half.
3) Go Green - when choosing items on the menu, think of a traffic light system. We generally know what the RED and GREEN choices are, it's the AMBER choices that get confusing so to remove all doubt, go GREEN and don't be tempted by those fried breakfasts! Instead chose high fibre cereals, fruits or leans meats.
4) Cool Down in the Pool - use this time to get in some lengths. 30 minutes of breaststroke can burn around 350 calories so is an easy way of cooling down while burning a big chunk of calories.
5) Choose Ice over Cream - by swapping an ice cream for an ice lolly you can save yourself around 150 calories.
