Gym vs Hiring A Trainer?
The comments I come across the most are "I can't afford it" and "but I only pay £20 a month at my gym". The latter of course is true, but there's a reason these people have filled in an application form and come to see me! I know first-hand what plodding along hopping from Cross Trainer to Bike to Treadmill without a clue what I’m doing feels like, that was me a few years ago. For those of you that haven't read my previous blogs, they are brutally honest and well worth a read.
There are a number of choices out there for us all -
1) Do nothing.
2) Starve yourself on a FAD diet and fall off the wagon two weeks into it.
3) Join a gym and barely attend - that happens a lot!
4) Join a gym and "work out" on your own 5+ days a week for months and months.
5) Hire a trainer and "train" 2 or 3 times a week and see amazing and lasting results in a fraction of the time it would take you to do it alone.
Guess which one got me into my wedding dress?
That's right, I trained once a week with a trainer, and 2 times a week on my own following a personalised programme for 16 weeks and had to have my dress taken in 3, YES 3 times! Prior to that I’d done what lots of you are doing right now - feeling like i was fighting a losing battle!
So why did hiring a trainer boost my results? Because they knew what training methods to use, gave nutrition advice, supported me outside of sessions, made training fun, and most importantly - HELD ME ACCOUNTABLE!
You can't just pay money and expect to get results, you need to put time and effort in but the rewards will be well worth it. We all make excuses from time to time but you won't get away with them with me, I see right through them! You hired me to get you results after all - and trust me, I've heard pretty much every excuse under the sun!
Spend £20 a month plodding along on your own for a year (that's £240 of course!) and get bored waiting, or invest that money in a trainer and reap the long lasting rewards in a fraction of the time.
The choice is yours!
