I lost 2.5st but my Cholesterol level went through the roof…

So this has taken me a little longer than intended to get round to writing so thank you for baring with me! See that's what can happen, all the little things get in the way of what you intend to do and before you know it as week has shot past! It's the same with your health! "I'll start on Monday" yeah we've all said it, me included!

I told you last week that I’m not perfect and I meant it. In truth, I too struggle to get my back side into gear from time to time! I've let myself lapse a little since my wedding day that i worked so hard training for so that I's fit into my wedding dress. Is it common? Hell Yes! Can I do something about it? Absolutely!

OK it's not like I’ve gained all the weight back on, far from it, just under a stone in 2.5 years to be honest. Why is that? Because I've allowed myself to continue to eat the exact same way while reducing the amount of exercise i did while setting up The Studio! It's not a major issue and I'm still fit and healthy, but for me, as someone who openly enjoys a glass of vino and a decent steak, I choose to maintain a healthy lifestyle while still enjoying the odd luxury! You won't hear many Personal Trainers saying this... I train to eat and to keep myself fit healthy. I don't train to be buff or to prove myself to anyone. If i wanted to do that I could, but I don't, and people respect me as their trainer for that.

I've been fit and healthy most of my life but this doesn't mean I’ve found it easy. Certainly not in my adult years. I'm just like you, I enjoy my treats but I also like to keep myself active. I guess my love of food started way back when I was a gymnast.

I was 7 years old and trained 16 hours a week right up to the age of 11. My mother couldn't fill me and I had a bony bum apparently! I'm guessing if I sat on her knee now should wouldn't say the same!!

I also trained 3 hours a week as a trampolinest during this time and continued until I did my GCSE's. Since then I have also played Volleyball for Stockport Ladies & Greater Manchester u17s, not for a good while though as most of that went out the window when I went to Uni!

In 2002 I moved to London straight from Uni and piled on the weight for no real reason other than I was bored and a little homesick. I was 12st and I'm not ashamed to admit that I tried The Atkins Diet - WORST IDEA EVER! Yes it got me uber fast results, I lost 2.5st, but my Cholesterol level went through the roof.

A Cholesterol level of 8.2 is NOT good at any age never mind at the age of 22. I was put on Statins for the rest of my life and sent on my way. I picked up my prescription and headed home. It was then that something sparked inside me. It was time to change...

I tell you what I did in my next blog...
